Most plugins that will connect your WordPress site to Facebook requires three codes; App IS/API Key; App Secret & Page ID.
We’ll include below where to find this information.
- Log into your Facebook account as per normal.
- Go to www.developers.facebook.com. This is the Facebook Developers website.
- Click the “Apps” link on the top navigation bar.
- These settings are for your “profile” as you are the developer. The plugin that you choose to use, will allow you to select the “page” that you wish to link with.
- You’ll need to highlight, then copy the numbers under the “App IS/API Key” & “App Secret” & paste them into a word/wordpad/email as you will need them later.
Go back to www.facebook.com & go into your page.
Click on “Edit page” then “Update info”
The ID number will be found in the address bar after “=”
The Plugin we found very easy to use is “Simple Facebook Connect“. If you choose this one, install it (or ask Guy Designs to install it for you). You will then be prompted to update the settings page.
Enter the codes you collected previously into the fields as follows;
Facebook Application ID = App IS/API Key;
Facebook Application Secret = App Secret
Facebook Fan Page = Page ID
Then click “save changes” button
You’ll then be returned to the screen with more options to complete. For this purpose, we’re setting up posts from WordPress to Facebook.
